LGBTQ+ Rights:
6 out of 10 LGBTQ+ students in the United States report feeling unsafe during the school due to their identity. The People's Rights Organization 100% supports those in the LGBTQ+ Community and want them to feel included, however we don't support allowing young children to change their gender or for transgender women to participate in women's sports. First off, everyone should feel safe and inclusive, regardless of their sex or who they love. However, the reason P.R.O. doesn't support children changing their gender is that many of these young kids stop feeling gender dysphoria. "In this Dutch study they identified 127 children who were referred to the Gender Identity clinic in Amsterdam when they were under the age of 12. They then looked to see if these children were still gender dysphoric by the time they reached adolescence at age 15. 47 (37%) of these children had persisted. However 80 (64%) of children had either desisted (52) or were no longer traceable (28)," (Transgender Trend). The facts from these studies further prove the facts that children's brains simply aren't fully developed, and should not be allowed to make this decision until they are 18 and adults. Secondly, although this organization completely supports transgender women competing in sports, a new sports category should be made for transgender women rather than women losing their spots in competitions. One example of this is when "transgender women JayCee Cooper broke the Minnesota state record for bench press despite being an active powerlifter for only a year," (Transgender Women and Fairness in Women Sports). Although this organization completely defends transgender women competing in sports and having athletic talent, countries need to create separate organizations for these transgender women in order to allow biological women to compete in their sport without having their spots taken away by biological males. To sum this up, the People's Rights Organization is on the side and will back up the LGBTQ+ Community as long as it's not affecting children's mental and physical health or altering women's sports.
Abortion Rights and Policy:
Ever since Roe v Wade has been overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, the legality of abortion is now handed back to the states. The People's Rights Organization believes that women should 100% have the right to have an abortion, and we are pro choice. However, in our minds, abortion is never a great thing, as this can affect mothers' mental health for the rest of their lives. First off, according to a recent study done, the Advanced New Standards in Reproductive Health found "high levels of regret (41-66%), sadness (64-74%), guilt (53-63%) and anger (31-43%)," (National Institute of Health). The fact of the matter is that abortion causes many mothers globally to feel levels of depression and asking themselves "what if." Mothers should never have to go through this situation, and instead should feel safe with birthing the baby, whether that means giving the child up for adoption or keeping it. Overall, while the People's Rights Organization is pro choice and supports women having the right to get abortions, ultimately it's morally wrong and governments need to do everything in their power to allow women to feel comfortable either birthing their kids or having an abortion.
The Right to Bear Arms:
The right to bear arms is a policy that has separated many countries for years. Since 1994, gun ownership in the USA has increased 28 precent! 48,830 people died from gun-related incidents in the United States in 2021, and President Donald Trump was almost assassinated last year. These staggering facts show that while people should have the right to bear arms, there must be a more thorough background check and safety regulations to ensure the comfort and safety of civilians. Right now, the process to buy a gun in the United States is fairly simple. First off, you must be 18 or 21 depending on what type of gun you are choosing. You must have a photo ID and fill out a form which will allow your identity to be checked by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. This is all you need to do in order to buy a gun in the United States! While there should be no unreasonable restrictions on safe, law abiding citizens to have a gun, more increased safety measures must be implemented n in order to keep civilians safe from gun violence, which has become a global issue.
Human Trafficking:
What is human trafficking? Well, it is considered an umbrella term used to describe either compelled labor or sex trafficking. People can be assumed as being trafficking victims regardless of whether they were exploited, previously consented, or participate in this crime due to being trafficked. Deeply, the aim of a trafficker is to exploit and enslave his or her victim using their horrible practices. The People's Rights Organization does NOT stand for human trafficking or trafficking of any kind, and believes that governments' top priorities should be to shut down this terrible crime. The incredible movie Sound of Freedom, which came out in 2023, is an amazing true story of a Homeland Security officer embarking on a deadly mission to save hundreds of children from a trafficking ring. Around 199,000 women and children are used in sexual slavery in the United States every year, and the USA being considered one of the worst countries in the world for human trafficking. However, the number of cases reported are much smaller, in the 10,000 range. The People's Rights Organization is dedicated to informing its readers about the horrible reality of trafficking in the world, and commits to not hiding the truth from citizens around the globe.
Racial and Cultural Beliefs:
The world has long grappled with systemic racism and injustice, and the People’s Rights Organization (PRO) stands firmly against any form of hate, regardless of differences. Everyone deserves access to the truth, and our mission is to provide that through critical news and analysis. According to a Harvard Public Health study, 60% of Black Americans report that they or a family member have been unfairly stopped or treated by the police due to their race, while non-immigrant Latinos are nearly twice as likely (36%) as immigrant Latinos (19%) to report similar unfair treatment due to their ethnicity. At PRO, we are dedicated to uncovering the stories often hidden from the public eye and shedding light on issues of racism and bias. Opening people’s eyes to these injustices is not just important; it is essential for a better future.
Immigration in America:
Immigration has always been vital to America’s growth and diversity, but under Trump’s administration, many policies have made it harder for people to seek a better life here. The People’s Rights Organization (P.R.O.) is strongly pro-immigration and believes in a fair, compassionate system that prioritizes legal immigration. While national security is important, we should never treat immigrants like criminals or deny them the right to safety and opportunity. Immigrants contribute to the workforce and economy, and many who are here legally, working hard and paying taxes, should be given the chance to stay. We believe in creating a clear pathway to citizenship for those who follow the proper processes. However, people who have entered American soil illegally should be returned to their home countries, and given the opportunity to come here legally. The U.S. should be a place where anyone, regardless of background, can legally pursue the American Dream. The P.R.O. stands for policies that treat immigrants with dignity and fairness, not fear.
International Trade + Tariffs:
International trade has always been key to America’s economy, fostering growth and opening new markets. While we understand concerns about practices like currency manipulation, such as those allegedly by China, the People’s Rights Organization (P.R.O.) believes that raising tariffs in response can lead to higher inflation and harm American consumers and businesses. We oppose tariffs as a solution because they often create more problems than they solve, raising costs for consumers and disrupting global trade. Instead, we believe in enforcing international trade agreements that ensure fair practices, including the need for floating, market-driven currency exchange rates. These policies should promote fairness and compliance without resorting to protectionist measures. The P.R.O. stands for trade policies that encourage cooperation and sustainable economic growth, not inflation and unnecessary barriers.
Taxation and Spending:
We believe that the country's state and federal governments are extremely inefficient, and we support substantial reductions in wasteful government spending to eliminate or reduce the corrupt bureaucracy. The rich and middle class should contribute a fair share to the country’s taxes, and poor people should contribute a lower share to ensure food and housing security. The gap between the rich and poor is widening, and this issue is becoming more urgent. While we do think those with significant financial resources should pay more in taxes, setting tax rates too high can lead to unintended consequences like discouraging investment or causing the wealthy to move their money elsewhere. On the other hand, if taxes are too low, it means not enough revenue to fund public services that benefit everyone. We do not believe in massive tax cuts for the wealthy that create significant deficits and debts for our future generations.
Social Security:
Social Security plays a vital role in providing financial security for millions of Americans, especially retirees, disabled individuals, and families who have lost loved ones. However, we acknowledge that not everyone can afford to rely solely on Social Security for their retirement or livelihood, and the current system is facing significant challenges. The program’s funding is under strain due to an aging population and a shrinking workforce contributing to the system. While we firmly believe that Social Security must continue to exist as a safety net, it's clear that some form of change is needed to ensure its long-term viability. Many people depend on Social Security as their primary source of income, and cutting benefits or making drastic changes could have devastating consequences for them. We need to save Social Security and make necessary reforms to address the program’s financial future while still protecting the vulnerable individuals who rely on it.
Medicare/Medicaid:
Medicare and Medicaid are essential lifelines for millions of Americans, providing healthcare coverage for seniors, low-income individuals, and people with disabilities. The People's Rights Organization (P.R.O.) recognizes the vital role these programs play in ensuring that all Americans, regardless of their income, have access to necessary medical care. However, we also acknowledge that there are challenges that need to be addressed to improve these systems and ensure they can continue to serve those in need. While we firmly believe in the importance of Medicare and Medicaid, the rising costs of healthcare are putting significant pressure on both programs. Not everyone can afford adequate coverage outside of these programs, and many depend on them to meet their healthcare needs. That said, we recognize the need for reform to make sure these programs remain sustainable and effective, especially as the population ages and healthcare costs continue to rise. We believe any changes to Medicare and Medicaid should be carefully considered, ensuring that vulnerable groups are protected. At the same time, adjustments are necessary to address inefficiencies and tyhe long-term financial challenges these programs face to make sure they can continue to serve the people who rely on them. The goal should always be to provide accessible, affordable healthcare to all, without placing unnecessary burdens on taxpayers or those in need.
Military Spending:
Military spending is a necessary part of ensuring national security and maintaining a strong defense, but the People's Rights Organization (P.R.O) recognizes that it’s an issue that deserves careful consideration and balance. We support having a military that is well-equipped and capable of protecting the country, but we also acknowledge the need to evaluate whether the level of spending is truly in line with the needs of the nation. While it’s clear that a strong defense is essential, the U.S. military budget is among the highest in the world, and some argue that there are areas where spending could be better allocated or more efficient. The growing military budget comes at a cost, and there are concerns that funds might be better spent on other critical areas like education, healthcare, and infrastructure, which also contribute to national security in the long term. We believe in maintaining a military that is both capable and efficient, but we also think it’s important to have a conversation about the necessity of some expenditures and whether every dollar is being used in the best interest of the people. The goal should be to ensure that our military remains a strong force without sacrificing other essential programs that benefit the public. While we’re not taking a specific stance on exact cuts or increases, we do believe that military spending should be carefully examined and adjusted to reflect the actual needs of our security, while being mindful of other pressing national priorities.
